For the Love of Showing Horses and Ponies

It is hard to talk about what was traditionally worn when it comes to riding hats, as safety standards have substantially improved over the years. Nowadays, the most popular choice is a navy velvet hat with a cream leather strap.
Charles Owen make lovely examples of these hats, though over brands are available at slightly lower prices. In the Charles Owen range there is the H2000 (which I sadly believe is in the process of being discontinued) and the Fian. Both of these hats come in a range of colours, so that they can be matched to jackets, there is: elephant grey, hunter green (bottle), black and brown. They used to stock burgundy as well, which may still be available by special request.
In the past, people would show in Pateys, hunting bowlers and top hats. Though not as common today as they offer less protection, these hats are still quite widely used, especially in the higher levels of showing. With top hats traditionally still worn for an evening performance.
