For the Love of Showing Horses and Ponies

Button holes used to be commonly worn in show pony classes, matched to the browband of the pony and the riders hair ribbons/scrunchie. Before matching button holes were made, a red coronation was what was worn as a button hole, they never completely went out of fashion but have become more popular again. The matching browband button hole combination did go out of fashion in the 2010s but they do seem to be gaining more popularity recently. There was a period over the past few years where it was the fashion to wear no button hole at all, but they do seem to be gaining popularity, more commonly than not a red coronation. I personally think both button hole options look smart, though if you are riding multiple ponies, a coronation can be more practical. Â
It isn’t common place to wear button holes in the mountain and moorland and show hunter classes, though many years ago a blue cornflower was sometimes worn, I haven’t seen this since the very early 2000s though.
